Moving Parts was born in 1985 for young people underachieving at school and facing exclusion. The group was set up in Clovenstone Community Centre and encouraged disabled individuals and pupils from WHEC (Wester Hailes Education Centre) to build their confidence and self-esteem through theatre.

The cast would soon be performing devised pieces based on their experiences, many as outrageous comedies at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, an excellent outlet for the talents of such a disengaged group.

Through time international contacts were established and a bond was formed with Kaschperlprod, a like-minded theatre group in Munich. Through this relationship, Acting European - a multi-national European arts programme, took place in 1991 and 1993. Munich and Lyon were the respective hosts to groups from France, Scotland, Germany, Lithuania, Belgium and Italy.

In 1995, Moving Parts entered a new era. This transitional period saw us tackle stronger theatre and by 1998 we were taking on classics such as Franz Kafka's Metamorphosis (for more information please see our fringe section).

Since then, the group have developed an excellent background in Theatre in Education. Come back soon to find out more about our 'purpose built' theatre pieces and workshops.
